The Empty Bed are Gucchi (Gt.), Hiromasa (Ba.), Takuji (Dr.) and Jonathan (Vo./Gt.).
Everything started as Gucchi, Jonathan and former-member Haru met through a Radiohead-fan community on the popular Japanese network Mixi in December 2005. They began writing songs together in January 2006, gathering every week in the music room of a foreign student lodge, for legendary (well, you know...) sessions now known as the "Komaba Sessions". After a first acoustic live in Koenji Club Liner in March 2006, they spent a few months writing new songs and arranging them, sometimes having to work and put things together thousands of kilometers away from each other, as Gucchi and Jon would travel around the world and Japan for their work.
In January 2007, Takuji joined them first as a support drummer, and officially became a member of the band after their first gigs in May and June 2007. Charisma Bassist Yousuke (now a member of Dabada-Q) offered his support for The Empty Bed’s shows from May to August 2007, adding his unequaled groovy touch to the band’s songs.
In October 2007, based on musical divergences, Haru leaves the band and The Empty Bed goes on with a new 4-piece line up, completed in December 2007 as Hiromasa joined the band on Bass.
Among the main influences of the band’s music can be cited Radiohead, The Beatles, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Judy & Mary, Sigur Ros, The Smashing Pumpkins, Travis, ...
